I had a breakdown last Monday (3rd March) which required the car to be towed 40 miles. It was put on what I think was called a VRS(?) and taken to the garage. Before the tow the car was fine (well, apart from what caused the breakdwon ;o)) with the tracking straight and true. I was taken in the van with the car and could hear it banging and crashing about behind me.

The car is now fixed (the original problem) and as I left the repair place noticed I had to apply a lot of right hand lock to keep the car in a straight line, probably about 1/8 of a full turn. Prior to the tow it was bang on. The repair involved no work to suspension componants and did not require the removal of the road wheels.

To me this seems quite obviously damage caused by the AA. I have spoken to them on the phone tonight and apparently the dept. I need is closed. Typical.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It is quite normal to hear a "crashing and banging" from the rear of the van when using the VRS, this however is not the members car making the noise but the tow hitch where the VRS system connects to the breakdown van. I doubt very much that the tracking has been altered during a VRS recovery as the vehicle steering is left free in an unlocked position for the car to follow the towing vehicle at any angle appropriate to the manouver being carried out at that time.
