I’ve just heard that the government are considering making both sides of the M25 run in the same direction to help congestion – apparently there are more clockwise journeys than anticlockwise so now they’re going to make us all go in the same direction.
Bloody stupid if you ask me. I drive from Rickmansworth to Uxbridge and back every day and while I accept it might make my drive home easier I would either have to use the back roads in the morning or go the long way around which would cost a fortune in fuel and take hours! Come on AA. You claim to be the voice fo the motorist - stop this happening |

I heard this too... although I thought this was supposed to just be between the A3 and M4 junctions... either way its ridiculous its just going to make the roads around the M25 a nightmare

I think the idea is only for peak hours from 0600 until 1000 and then 1600 till 1900 and only between certain busy junctions. It may seem completely mad but the Highways Agency promised us 'integrated demand management' I suppose this could be it - we'll certainly be integrated all going the same way!

Does that mean at 4pm we all have to do a u-turn and go back round the motorway?

At last! A sensible idea to ease congestion. I suggest phasing it in; start with cars and then, if it's a success, introduce it to trucks next month. I'm convinced this will be a major contribution to road safety.SRM
