How are young drivers meant to get insurance...current quotes are crazy. Can't someone offer a no claims bonus to young drivers when they take out insurance. If they have a crash they then pay the full premium. Even the pay as you go insurance has gone bust.

One way to get premiums down is to avoid having accidents. Indeed check out www.theaa.com/drive-smart as the AA Charity is offering 2,000 FREE Drive Smart courses for new drivers most at risk. It covers eco and save driving so if you do the course and tell your insurer you might get a discount or at least save on fuel and repair bills. Check it out.

My friend was in a crash last weekend, involving a drunken cyclist who rode through a red light and went into their car and windscreen. Luckily my parents have fully comp(link removed) car insurance, especially as they had to come back 300 miles in the rescue van and had to pay for the mileage their and back. Apparently, police stopped the cyclist earlier in the morning and told him to sleep his drunkenness off – but he ignored them and 2 hours later crashed. More should be done to penalise drunk drivers and cyclists.

With accidents increasing day by day, there is a risk of losing life and money. Having 2 teenagers in my family, i used to be worried with their habit of driving fast and late at nights. My cars and trucks are insured but now with Compare-insurance , I got my kids insured too at relative discounted price. Now i feel bit relax and less worried what I used to be. With different types of insurances and their facilities, Compare insurance offers you the lowest price available for young drivers insurance.

this might be of use : www.compare-insurance.co.uk

Definitely agree with all people on the forum. Insurance for young drivers is rediculous in the UK, here are some FACTS, insurance for me (20yrs) for BMW 735 E38 costs approx. 5000 GBP per year 3-rd party cover, for Jaguar XJ approx. 4500... I'm fully adequate and careful driver, when I phoned all the advert for "cheap insurance" they only say you must choose a car with small engine size, (well who on earth will race in a luxury saloon?) It's not a Nissan GTR or equivalent. Secondly, which is most important, I say OK, now look for me on BMW 316 with 1.6 L engine, and it comes out at the same range approx 4500 per year, it is horribly misleading that by choosing the smaller engine you will get a low insurance price.
Statistics says male drivers are more dangerous at young age bla bla bla....than women, which is totally wrong! I have seen women doing crazy things on the road even make up, or driving between the lanes, also when they turn 90% of them think they got priority... They are by far not as careful and fast-thinking as guys. Guys get involved in the accident more often, simply because there by far more drivers and guys drive more often. They do break the rules sometimes, but with reason, knowing that it will not cause any obstruction to other drivers.
P.S. Nowadays it's hard to find any insurance for young drivers for a reasonable price + I don't know why insurance companies do not sell short term car insurance under 21 years of age? !!! What a discrimination. Although I can not find anything in the law of traffic act, restricting that. E.g. If I want to use my friends car for a day I must have insurance, this is the requirement, so there must be a way of getting it...
And remember, when you pay for your insurance and if you're careful, basicly you're only paying for the "paper" Now ask yourself, is it OK to pay 1000-s for the paper?
Something needs to be done. For sure there are accidents, they can't blame young drivers, but what do they want? To make 100% profit and not spend anything? + only insure people from "the low group risk" like Old guys who garage their car and drive 10 miles per year, only to the MOT station?=D D D he-he

Choose the best company for auto insurance for your teens. Check many sites on net and compare all of them as I also did the same and took the policy from online-autoinsurance.net.

I think young male drivers are discriminated against, it's just that insurance companies use the statistics they choose. I have been driving for over 25 years and the stats also show that per mile driven females have more accidents, but as males tend to drive more miles they have a greater number of actual accidents, so any quote based on gender IS discrimination
