I LIKE

Comfort for driver and passengers - big supportive seats.
Interior space and family/tip-run/ikea/camping/holiday load-lugging ability.
Hard-wearing interior – scrubs up well.
Auto transmission - and that auto transmission ‘creep’ you get at parking speeds.
RELIABILITY is excellent – servicing costs not too bad.
Decent air-con. Massive sunroof. Visibility and high vantage point.
Motorway cruising – and easy driving through busy towns.
Acceleration from auto kickdown – a rapid, yet gentle surge without frantic scrabbling.
Depreciation better than most.
The bulk is deceptive – it occupies the same driveway space as an old Mondeo.
Great fun to drive in the snow, the diff lock is brilliant - more snow next year please!
And, very important this, the kids aren’t embarrassed when I collect them from school or a friend’s house

I DON’T LIKE

Fuel consumption of 2.5 petrol engine – although easing off with the right foot does pay huge dividends. And,
Fuel tank range – I wish the current diesel-auto version had been available at the time.
Door mirrors are not heated – Nissan added this to the spec soon after purchase.
CD changer in dash plays up when weather is cold – I’ve given up with CDs and now use iPod with FM transmitter instead.
CV auto box gives limited towing ability – I would be pushing my luck with, say, a four-berth caravan. If I had a caravan, that is. Again, a diesel-auto option may have helped with this.

There was something else.

Not too happy that X-Trails seem popular with middle-aged/silverhead drivers. Fortunately, they don't wave like Fiat Multipla drivers tend to. I wonder, does this suggest that the woven-back driving gloves brigade are switching their traditional allegiance from Honda to Nissan?

Perhaps I shouldn't worry, I feel in the peak of youthful fitness and my mind is as sharp as a pin.

...oh, something else. I worry that they seem popular with middle-aged/silverhead drivers. Fortunately, they don't wave like Fiat Multipla drivers tend to. I'm eighty-two, you know.
