Subject: Rover 600 ignition barrel
Posted At: 08/04/2009 07:30:12
I have a P-registered Rover 600, bought secondhand so unfortunately we only have one key. The key is now getting a bit worn and sometimes (getting more frequent though over the past few months) the key will not turn in the ignition 'barrel'. The AA man has sorted the problem out forus once but has said that there will be a point when the key will not turn at all. Q: How easy is it to replace the ignition 'barrel'? Can it be done? How expensive would be be to have the work done? How easy are parts available for this Rover so it can be done? I really need this to be done in the next 2/3 weeks as my wife wants the car to go away for a week and the last thing she wants is to be stranded in the middle of the West Country with a car that will not start!

Try your local Honda dealer as that Rover model was mostly Honda.
Alternatively try Xpart http://www.xpart.com |

I also have a P reg Rover 600 with the same problem, did you have it repaired, and if so, how much did it cost?
