Subject: New car system

It has been revealed that a new in-car computer could make it impossible for drivers to speed. The system detects the speed limit and automatically slows the car if it is being driven too quickly – reducing car accidents and
accident claims. It is good because it could cut accidents by 10% but bad as some critics suggest this proves further state interference. |

but what about times when you need to momentarily go over the speed limit to avoid an accident?
One example is when driving on a dual carriageway doing 65 with someone doing 70 overtaking you and another driver comes down the sliproad to join, matching your speed and on a collision course with no awareness of vehicle presence, you can't brake or the car behind may hit you, you can't change lanes or you would hit the overtaking car, you can't stay where you are or you will be hit, so your only option to avoid a accident which is not of your making is to increase you speed to over the limit to get away from the offending driver. - And I'm sure this happens even more to motorcyclists In the end is just comes down to personal responsibility for your own driving. What is needed is for the police to target bad driving, not cash cameras targeting anyone who happens to be a little over the speed limit. (and no I have never had a speeding ticket before you ask) |

The best system to use to control spped is AVERAGE SPEED CHECK CAMERAS on every road, its only the foreigners and those who do not know how they work who will speed and get a ticket, up the fine to £500 no one will speed. JOB DONE!
