Has anyone else notoiced that you cannot read half the roadsigns out there as they are hidden by trees, bushes or are just dirty?

I know what you mean although in London it is maybe not as many as elsewhere.
There's one at the end of the A12 London-bound where you're heading for Mile End, Bow, etc. Five exits on the roundabout but the top half of the sign is gone! Must be very confusing for people who aren't local... |

It's not just the amount of hidden signs, whether that be poor maintenance or foliage but the trend also seems to be if in doubt stick another needless sign up. It would be nice to drive a stretch of local road without seeing signs every 50 yds!

On one of the main roads into Norwich where the speed decreases to 30mph, there are 2 signs on both sides of the road covered by branches and trees. On one side the tree was planted there by the hotel so the sign is now obscured. On the other it's a tree lining the edge of allotments. It's been this way at least for 10 years!
