I have to put my own deisel in my company car and claim back a rate per mile which is set by the inland revenue, which has, from the 1st July been set at 10p for up to 2000cc, this is based on an average of £103.4p per Litre, WHY when the average UK price is £105.4p and rising, they have never got it right, since working under this rule since May 2004, I have lost £365, I keep spreadsheets which work it all out, I don't achieve the MPG they suggest due to me sitting in rush hour traffic, the MP's seem to get away with claiming anything but the inland revenue (part of the Government) are not flexible, they check the rate every 6 months, and I always end up out of pocket, how do I get this point over to them??? tried my local tax office, they dont care

I am in the same situation. when the price of diesel went up to the highest it would cost me about 17p per mile but i could only claim back 13p. when i spoke to the inland revenue you can apparently claim back the difference. i thought about it but i did not keep hod of my recepts
