Car unlocks without assistance

I have an X reg. Vauxhall Astra. My problem is that the car was unlocking without any help from me (or anyone else) Sometimes it could be an interval of a week or a few hours, this over a period of a month or so and in different locations

I park in a fairly safe residents car park and only once did anyone enter the car illegally when it was open. Nothing was taken and no damage done except that they left stuff strewn around and turned on the lights draining the battery.

I consulted my dealer and they suggested that someone else had a key( which is not possible) or someone had 'cloned' my key. Again not possible as the keys never left my possession and the solution to be on the safe side was to have the locks and the keys changed at a cost of £491.00.

I felt I had no option and asked them to do this but only after checking the system first to make sure there was no other option

After getting the car back I travelled up to Sotland for a visit. Guess what ? Same problem. Car is now back with dealer for a few days. Anyone else had this problem or can throw any light on the subject.

Hi,

I used to work with Lexus cars and my boss and sales director had this problem on their cars too. Often happened when parked next to another car or nearby another car which turned out to have a similar frequency of their remote locking key fob.

I borrowed one of the cars for a meeting one day, parked in the car park of a Land Rover dealership up North, and when I came back out to the car the doors were open and the windows down, but it was all locked up when I left it.

Never got to the bottom of the problem as the car was swapped out when mileage was up.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but al least your not alone.

Dandybob,

I now have the same problem with my Y Reg Astra! Have you managed to get to the bottom of it?
