I am aware of the rule that says no stopping on the motorway unless it is for an emergency. What is the position of a driver in a convertible with the roof down, when sunshine turns to torrential rain, before a motorway exit or service-station?
We are rather short of both where I live, and although I never set out in adverse weather, it has changed from bright sunshine to tropical downpour between exits.

As it is possible to keep driving a convertible with the roof down through light drizzle (if you dont wear glasses) it is impossible in the sort of rain I am describing. Does putting the roof up, constitute an emergency?
