My Volvo 440 on a H (1991) plate, has the following problem, and im not sure if its worth getting quotes to repair as i dont want to be ripped off as i am not sure what the problem could be so thought id ask if any other forum users might know.

Driving along the car loses power and comes to a fast (but steady) stop, Once pulled over the engine turns (so ruled out electrical fault), but does not fire - like run out of fuel.
But if left untouched for literally 1-2 minutes, the car will start again as though nothing happened!

Does anyone have an idea what could be going on?
e.g
Blocked fuel lines,
Fuel filter etc

My car is 1721cc (carberettor engine i believe)

Try posting your question on; www.volvoforums.org.uk there's bound to be someone there with a 4 series that can help.

The 460 and 480 that I have previously had were both injection versions of that engine but if that had happened with either of them I'd check that there was a spark coming from the coil to the distributor, it sounds like coil or ecu at fault (cracked board in the ECU???).
