One of the most under-rated sports hatchbacks of the start of this century, this version of the Leon has the Audi TT 1.8 turbocharged engine developing 225BHP. Get the REVO mapping for it and this can be boosted to 270BHP.

That's quite a lot of power from a relatively small but sturdy engine - the burble from the exhaust at tickover is as close as you can get to a V8 sound from only 4 cylinders and the boom from the exhaust at high revs is a bit deafening.

The ride is quite hard as the suspension has very little give but the solid feel when driven with urgency and the power to push you back into your seat along with great handling makes this one of my favourite cars ever.
