Volvo jokes aside - The SE model has the full leather interior and the 1.8i engine in mine means a reasonably good 30 mpg, for a car of it's size and weight.

My automatic model isn't exactly quick, but is a very comfortable cruiser on long journeys and exceptionally smooth on shorter trips too, but you don't buy a Volvo estate for the speed do you?

I bought it in 2005 from an elderly neighbour, it had been washed and polished every weekend and only been to the local golf club and back during weekends, so the condition was exceptional for it's age.

Parts are a bit pricey, but you'd expect that from a premium marque, however, reliability is excellent. It has never broken down, waded "wheel arch deep" through floods (when my mate's BMW didn't!) and fits the kids in comfort with a full boot of toys, buggies and luggage with room to spare.

Would buy another Volvo without a thought, until the kids leave home and it gets replaced by an Aston...
