Ive purchased an Ex police car Peugeout 307 hdi . Very economical ive had it for 7 month no problems why are there stigma attached about ex police vehicle the resale value reduced substantially can someone explain why?
Also when i went to register the vehicle and obtain v5 from Dvla i noticed vehicle was registered as light goods vehicle which resulted me paying considerably more for my road tax, i was told that the details can not be altered. |

Cars owned by the police do not hold resale value due to a number of reason; they are of high mileage, they do not have service histories, any repairs to the vehicle are not disclosed (for example if a vehicle had a blown head gasket and cylinder head replaced then not many people will buy that car) and worst because of the holes that had been bored into various parts of the car to fit several pieces of equipment and few other reasons.
I will presume that your vehicle is registered before 1 March 2001. If it is the case then it will make no difference whether it is a Private Vehicle or Light Goods Vehicle because the Road Tax both categories - well it is one catagory - is the same. If it is registered after 1 March 2009 then the road tax catagories will be different. Check the date of first registration on your V5. You can write to Peugeot Head Office and ask them to confirm the class of your car. Once you have received confirmation, write to DVLA enclosing a copy of the Peugeot HO letter and ask them to change. If DVLA do not agree to change, then write to their complaints department at Swansea who will investigate the matter. |
