I'm a learner although i can just about stand up.
Where are the best places to surf in the uk? (and why do you recommend them - is it the nicest beach, the facilites, the most reliable swell, biggest waves, warmest water!?) |

Cornwall and West Wales are the best but North Devon is meant to be good too.

Strangles beach just north of Boscastle is awesome - though I think that strictly speaking surfing and swimming is banned due to the undertow

Hmm... Uk surf... I reckon its got to be North Devon. If you live in the South, then its the best balance of decent waves, facilities, cider, not too far away, etc.... Cornwall's probably more consistent, but you've got another two hours of driving to contend with.
I think that if you're a beginner then you want to look at Saunton Sands to start with, but Woolacombe is probably okay too. Croyde is also round the corner so its got something for everyone without the extra driving... I've also done the Gower, which was okay, but it rained the whole time we were there and it didn't seem to have enough decent pubs to make life bearable... |
