Does anyone believe that computer games can help improve driving? I guess if your playing Gran Tourismo, Burnout or GTA4, you might learn all about a good racing line, how best to crash (Most spectacularly) and steel cars? Joking aside, does simulation help or does it desensitize you people to the reality (and sometimes potential horror) of poor driving?

No as there is no realism. If you crash you just continue

I agree with Panda. My son thinks he's the greatest driver in the world because he can beat me...easily...at any driving game he has, but there is no risk, no realism. You can have a spectacular crash and just start again.

well what a good driver needs is a good road sense.Haveing the ability to read the road and the conditions. Then have be able to adapt the driveing style to suit.Any body can drive fast and show a complete disregard for other road users.just like the computer games promote. On the other hand has anybody had to take the hazard perception test used by the DVLA lately.

computer 'GAMES' will never help us improve our driving, thats why they are called GAMES. its way of having fun and pushing the boundaries, somerthing we are NOT suposed to be doing if we are on the road.. unless you got sum1 to impress lol

I heard it helps develop hand-eye coordination, which could be argued helps improve your driving or any other activity.

I remember reports saying that Lewis Hamilton, I think, practised some circuits on an F1 computer game.
