Anyone got any idea as to the amounts of water used when cleaning a car using a pressure waser vs a normal garden hose?

Also, is one better at protecting the surface of the car? i.e. the pressure wash is too harsh vs the garden hose not getting enough damaging stuff off like salt?

Probably not a straight answer on this but would be good to get some views!

Well lightening mcqueen why dont u just get the shampoo and sponge out and clean the salt off properly and then use the garden hose to rinse it, thats what i do and she comes out sparkling every time. As for u panda, get off ur furry behind and wash ur own dam car!

I was always under the impression that pandas have waxy fur, like ducks

Woah, go away for a day and this thread has turned from saving a little water to the plight of the panda in China, so can I get car seat covers?

Seriously though does anyone know if a pressure washer is more efficient? I'll try and fill up a bucket at the weekend and time how long it takes, and then do the same for the garden hose. If the pressure washer takes more time to fill the bucket then well there's probably some more maths involved...

The other thought was to try both, and record the use on the water meter.

Probably the old method of two buckets, one soapy and one for rinsing will win in the end!
