Do you agree with the decision in Swindon to scrap speed cameras?

yes these speed cameras are a money making racket to keep the goverment in money and pay for the newpolice cars huh the labour gov must think were stupid but we aint and the car drivers yet have to come forward and make there point in this society and make it strong? i have driven safe and have broken the speed limit but not in towns and i did see people whizzing bye and then all of a sudden brakes hard on for a gatso or a radar gun. statitics prove that the more detterents the more people will think up new ideas to beat them so the police are creating the accidents not the driver. my only worry now is that with all the new cameras on the roads will our police be safe from annoyed drivers . someone works hard to save up get past there test then find thousands to insure the car and they may want to make a few alteration for there pleasure then the police come along sorry u cant do that we will have too crush ure car it is all wrong i say all wrong and should be stopped now stoppednow.

It depends what they replace them with- will lower speed limits help reduce speeding and road accidents? I am not sure

Any road with regular street lighting has a default speed limit of 30 mph unless signs indicate otherwise. The entry to a 30 mph zone must be marked by a "30" sign on both sides of the road, but no repeater signs are permitted within the zone (on the grounds that they might be confusing if some roads had them and others didn't). "30" roundels on the road surface are however permitted, with a special dispensation.

Very few of us have been driven to distraction because another driver drove too quickly but every day I talk to more and more people who are very upset by other drivers tail-gating them.
Get rid of the dumb cameras and put more police back on the roads and make it a crime to aggressively tailgate - tailgating should carry bigger penalties for drivers of bigger vehicles - trucks, vans, suvs and pickups should all get double point for being too close to the car in front.
