hiya. got a mondeo on hire at the moment and have only the one key. stupidly i managed to drop the key in such a way that not only did the key fob open, but the battery managed to pop out of it. i'm stunned as to why as it hasnt broken the little clips inside and so it just popped back in. ofcourse thiis made a mess of the fob controller though. although the car will start off the key the fob wont run the central locking etc and the alarm goes off every time i get in it until i start the car.
i have tried turning the key to position II 4 times and i get the single tone when i turn it back to off on the forth turn but when i press a button on the fob there is nothing happening. i only have the one key though as this is a hire car. could you please help as i dont want them billing me £50 for the pleasure of ford doing the work or something. as i have said i have tried folling the instructions for the MRK2 -3 car but i dont know if there the right ones for the car as it was built in 07. what am i doing wrong? can it be recalibrated to the car with only the one key available or do i need a active chip from another key to be near the car at the time? thanks |

My father drives a new Mondeo and I have just checked his handbook. There is no re-synchronising procedure for the key fob. If the battery in the remote has failed or gone flat, you simply need to reconnect a new battery in the fob and press the remote. I would therefore suggest checking the battery is positioned correctly, the handbook states the + should be faced down. If this doesn’t work a fault may have developed in the key fob itself. I would ring the Hire company and just say the remote isn't working. Good luck
