My daughter's car broke down at 18.00 hours on 8th December 2008, she was in Sheffield for a job interview, she did not know the area and she was on her own. She is 21 years of age.

I rang the AA and reported that she was in her car on the the approach to a major round a bout and she could not move her car. It was dark and my daughter did not know what to do. The AA said they would put her on priority and should be there within the hour.

My daughter sat in her car with the hazard lights on for the next 60 minutes, she then text me to see what was happening, by now her battery was failing and still the AA had not arrived.
I telephoned again to find out where the breakdown vehicle was, only to be told that it was now going to be 90 minutes not 60mins.

By now my daughter was cold and scared. Her lights had finally failed so I rang the AA again, it had now been 105 minutes since she broke down, I was then told that it was going to be another 25 minutes before anyone could be with her. That would be a total of 130 minutes since the first contact.

In the words of the AA we have put your daughter on priority - god help us if 130 minutes is priority, I dread to think how long it would take them if she was not on priority.

By the way at the time of writing this they still had not arrived, they have 15 minutes to get there to be within their 130 minutes......

Think I will join another associayion when my subscription runs out in the new year. and I think every one who reads this should do the same.

I too have just experienced the same problem, my wife had a flat tyre and I had to upgrade to get her on my cover, I have wrote a Thread explaining it all and I too will be changing to another breakdown company
