After upgrading at 20:00hrs on boxing day evening to get my wife added to my breakdown policy so she could get assistance with a flat tyre when she was out with our disabled twin baby boys I was informed assistance would be with her by 20:45hrs.
A 20:55 my wife telephoned me at home to say no one has turned up yet an AA van had stopped near her but drove off, I contacted the AA and informed the call centre of this and was told the recovery person had been sent on another job and my wife had a further 90 minute wait, I informed the person at the call centre about my wife’s predicament, being out in the icy weather with twin babies but this made not one iota of a difference, only to be told she will get a call about 10 minutes before recovery arrives.
In the mean time I get a call at 20:35hrs from an AA subcontractor saying the driver should be with my wife within 20 minutes, I had by this time made arrangements for my brother in law to see if he could get to my wife and change the tyre which he did do and had the tyre changed before anyone from a so called "professional" service had arrived.
I contacted the AA once my wife was safely home and tried to cancel the upgrade only to be told it was too late and I would have to contact customer services the next day.
AA has left a bitter taste in my mouth for allowing a vulnerable female to be stranded alone with two babies, babies that are disabled too.
I will not be renewing my breakdown cover with them and when my car insurance cover is up for renewal that too will be going to another company regardless of cost
