Mine would be don't use a car wash!

If you wash the car yourself it's amazing what you spot as you go around it.
Tyre depths, Brake pads, leaky parts, loose parts, parts hanging lower than they should, so to speak.

It's not a complete check but it's rare that you get that close to your car, unless you're one of those people from that Ch5 documentary.

Never tell anyone how reliable your car is!

Get you car serviced on a regular basis. Garage techs can also spot problems before they become breakdowns.
