I've had the pleasure of being clamped by midlands parking contracts, £350.00.
A truck cancellation fee was included in my £150 clamp release fee? What truck? I actually found out why this fee is so much, the owner of mpc has currently rebuilt his house and you guessed it with the money he swindles from "illegally parked drivers" I realise i was parked on private land and yes i should not have parked there, but surely this fee is an outrage? In this climate surely these clampers know money is hard to come by let alone spare? These men are animals. So Mr Minshull i hope your newley refurbed home is a pleasure to you and if anyone is interested pop by have look and see where your hard earned cash went to, i'm sure he'd love to offer you a cup of tea if you visit him. 377 Birmingham Road Bordesley Redditch. |

Seems to be the 'standard' these days, I was clamped outside my own flat by a differeny parking firm, Park Direct. My flat is still on private land because it's currently in development, so £355 later it was released. My car isn't worth as much as that so initially I said keep the car, but they then informed me it would still be subject to a removal and storage charge, and if it wasn't claimed a disposal charge as well. Seems like you can't win. I spoke to a solicitor friend of mine, and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, as it is private land they are entitled to charge what they like. The annoying thing is the wording of their signs, it indicated a charge of £150 which I was prepared to run the risk of, but then later on in the wording it mentions a tow truck fee which will also be charged if the truck has been called to a clamped vehicle. What burden of proof is there for a tow truck having been called? Their say so, no more than that.
It's time the industry had some form of regulation with regards how much they are actually allowed to charge, and better more clearly laid out signs with much bigger print on are needed, currently there are no regs regarding signage just that it has to be there, and has to be visible. |

Hi Guys, It seems Midland Parking Contracts have been up to their old tricks. Yesterday, they towed away my van for being illegally parked and are asking for £350 for its release plus storage charges. The reason why I am miffed is because there were no clear road markings distinguishing between what is their land and what is public road. The signage they had up was misleading because it looks as if it is for the car park next to the building. I did not obstruct anyone or anything with how I had parked and was only there a matter of minutes. I had no mobile phone with me and was miles from home. I said I would go off to make phone calls in a telephone kiosk in an attempt to get the money and when I came back 20 mins later the van was gone and so were they. I have no idea where my van is now. I was given no paperwork. They did not show me any ID or show their SIA cards. If there is anything to be done to nail them on this it has to be done quickly as apparently there is going to be clear road markings laid down later this week. I lost my job last year and am on JSA with a small baby and I cannot afford to pay the £350 and at the same time I cannot lose a £2000 van which I am currently trying to sell to raise some cash. Its all I have. Mr Minshaw and his cowboys are nothing more than outlaws.

This is outragous daylight robbery. First you must check that they have permission to clamp on that land by the landowner (otherwise it is a criminal offence). Second the clamper must have an SIA licence although this is difficult to check after the event. You can always try the Trading Standards people or indeed take them to the Small Claims Court. Write to your MP, local paper, Home Office etc. The Government needs to get its act together and outlaw clamping on private land like it was in scotland in 1992. |

Cheers for the advice.
I have tried everyone! Police, Newspapers, BBC, Ashley Blake, MP, MEP, House of Lords. Until a new bill is passed there is nothing to stop these outlaws as long as they are registered with the SIA and have name badges. They can charge what they want and nothing we can do. Clampers are the worst type of people you could ever come across. Lowest of the low. Only thing lower is a peado. I hope lightening strikes your house Mr Minshaull with you in it! |

Clampers should be executed in the town square until extinct. Write to your MPs that is why you elected them and get these creatures removed from our society.

Do press on to stamp out these vultures and rogues - MPC in particular. Last year the BBC TV found they owed £17,000 to 21 different CCJ's.
The total is now over £20,000 to 31 CCJ and they claim to have an appeals procedure! Write directly to: Alan Cambell MP Undersecretary of State Home Office 2 Marsham Street London SW1P 4DF |
